Hunger. Guess what? It's STILL a Problem.

From World Vision
It's that time of year again to fast and raise some money for hunger. Specifically in Africa. If you have read some of my previous posts from last year and possibly even the year before you know that every year my church fasts to raise money for some sort of cause. We are going back to hunger again because it is still a HUGE issue. While the numbers have gone down of how many children die under the age of 5 every day, they are still BIG numbers and it is something more people need to be aware about. This is why I am writing this post. Here is the problem:
22,000 children under the age of 5 die from hunger related, preventable diseases each day.
11,000 children under the age of 5 die from starvation each day.
The Horn of Africa is suffering from the world's worst famine in more than 60 years. Crops have died, food prices have skyrocketed, and refugee camps are overflowing. Millions have been displaced and risk dying from starvation or disease their bodies cannot fight off.
So now you know. So get out there and DO SOMETHING. Fight hunger. www.worldvision.org has lots of information about this issue and even more issues that they are fighting against. There you can sponsor a child, make a donation, and many other things to help raise awareness. You can also educate yourself so that you can raise your voice on behalf of hungry children and their families. The more people that know about this issue the more help we can bring.
PLEASE think about this and at the very least tell your friends and family so that they are aware. That doesn't take much effort at all and for all you know you could inspire them to take action and save some lives.
